Shimano STEPS Motor / drive

W100

Drive unit overtemperature (EP8 generation)

The EP8-generation counterpart to W010: the drive unit has become hotter than its normal operating range, typically from sustained high load, and the system temporarily limits assist power. After a cooling break the warning clears by itself. No repair is needed unless it occurs repeatedly under light load.

How to read e-bike error codes

Unlike cars (OBD-II), e-bike codes are manufacturer-specific: the same number means something different on a Bosch than on a Shimano system. What matters is always the combination of drive system and code.
