Shimano STEPS System / software

E043

Firmware on this product possibly corrupted

The system has detected an abnormality in the firmware of a component; part of the firmware may be corrupted. Assist is disabled until the firmware is restored with Shimano's diagnostic tools, which requires a dealer or distributor. Corruption of this kind is often the result of an interrupted update process.

How to read e-bike error codes

Unlike cars (OBD-II), e-bike codes are manufacturer-specific: the same number means something different on a Bosch than on a Shimano system. What matters is always the combination of drive system and code.
