Electrical abnormality inside the battery
The battery management system has detected an internal electrical fault and blocks all system functions for safety. A single occurrence can sometimes be cleared by a power cycle; a recurring E023 points to a genuine battery defect. In that case the battery must be inspected and usually replaced — do not attempt to open it.
