540

Drive unit temperature error

The drive unit is outside its permissible temperature range — usually too hot after long, steep climbs in high ambient temperatures, more rarely too cold in winter. The system shuts assistance down to protect itself. After cooling down (or warming up) and a restart, the drive normally works again without repair.

How to read e-bike error codes

Unlike cars (OBD-II), e-bike codes are manufacturer-specific: the same number means something different on a Bosch than on a Shimano system. What matters is always the combination of drive system and code.
