Internal sensor fault

A sensor inside the drive unit (e.g. torque or cadence measurement) is delivering faulty values. Apart from restarting the system there is nothing a rider can do at the roadside; the dealer must read out the drive with the diagnostic software. Sometimes a firmware update fixes the problem, otherwise the drive unit has to be repaired or exchanged.

How to read e-bike error codes

Unlike cars (OBD-II), e-bike codes are manufacturer-specific: the same number means something different on a Bosch than on a Shimano system. What matters is always the combination of drive system and code.
